motherhood

Dear Working Mum

I don’t know how you get up in the mornings and get not only your small people looking presentable, but yourself as well.
I don’t know how you make breakfasts, pack lunches, and get small people to sit down and eat breakfast, while simultaniously preparing yourself mentally for whatever tasks are waiting for you when you get to your desk.

Thank you for doing the hardest job in the world and making it look easy even though it isn’t most of the time.

Working full-time while raising kids is just plain hard. When people say ‘How do you do it all?’ maybe the best answer is ‘ I don’t ‘.
It is important to give yourself permission to have a sink full of dirty dishes, child in daycare and be OK with a walk down the street as the daily exercise.

Remember you are not alone. Surround yourself with others that are like minded. It is invaluable to have other women that know what you are going through, can cheer you on, give you tips and tricks and just be an ear to listen to complaints and tears.

The responsibilities that fall on moms are time-consuming, emotionally expensive, and draw from a seemingly infinite yet always depleting energy bank. Even the simple event of getting out the door in the morning can become task heavy and emotional.

For all out many differences, frustation united modern-day mothers. There is an inherent amount of frustation that seems quite natural when it comes to managing chaos, after all, and kids are, by nature, chaotic.
But we’re not merely frustrated. As a whole, we’re also incredibly stressed, drowning in self-doubt, and filled with anxiety. No matter our demographic, many of us feel ashamed of our messy lives and inability to “keep up”.
Our everyday lives are given more purpose and meaning when we begin to see our frustration as lamp posts along the trail of transformation. There is alway light being shone on the path to wisdom and thriving.

You are not alone. The workforce is full of women like you. Strong, determined, hardworking mamas set out to provide their families and maybe even enjoy themselves along the way. Sometimes you might feel that you can’t win. You feel like you have succeeded at work but fail at home. You are not alone when question every decision, wondering if you are doing enough. You are enough, Working mum.

Thank you for reading my blog and hope you learned something from it. Please don’t hesitate to comment if you have any feedback or questions.

Next week I will talk about mothers relationship to daughter. You do not want to miss that.

Take care of yourself.
